HEL British Motostar Moto3 Standard – Rd 6 – Brand Hatch

post-2017-rd6-brands

From the start of the weekend with free practice on Friday Cameron was
pushing hard for some good results putting in some good sector and lap times.

Qualifying on Saturday Cameron was reasonably happy with 6 th place in the
standard class and was hopeful of bettering this in first race during the
afternoon. However, due to bad weather conditions prior to the start of the race
was delayed with riders having to take shelter in the garages. With no let up to
the weather and dangerous track conditions the race was cancelled and
rescheduled as the last race on Sunday.

After the appalling weather on Saturday, Sunday was dry and track conditions
good. Sunday’s first race Cameron was determined and chasing hard, making
up places on the corners but struggling slightly on the straight. After a well
ridden race Cameron took the chequered flag in 6 th place in the standard class.
Saturday’s rescheduled race again saw Cameron take the chequered flag in 6 th
place to gain valuable championship points and retain his 6 th place in the
championship.

After the race Cameron said he would have liked to have had better results
despite riding hard and whilst gaining on the bends had lost ground on the
straights. However, points had been gained and I am looking forward to the
next round at Thruxton. Again, thank you to my Dad for his work on the bike,
my family and everyone who continues to support me.

HEL British Motostar Moto3 Standard – Rd 5 – Snetterton

post-2017-rd5-snetterton

After a two month break from racing and concentrating on GCSE exams,
Cameron was raring to get back out on the track on Friday for the two free
practice sessions on Friday. Weather and track conditions were good at the
3mile long Snetterton circuit, a former RAF airfield noted for its long fast
straights and variety of corners. In both sessions Cameron’s fastest laps came
towards the end of each.

Qualifying on Saturday morning with excellent track conditions saw Cameron
pushing hard but was only able to qualify 9 th in his class. However, in
Saturday’s race Cameron was able to make up some places finishing 6 th in the
Standard Class and gaining valuable championship points; the long straights
proving difficult for him against the smaller, lighter riders.
Sunday and from the start Cameron was pushing hard but again struggling on
the long straights, catching up on the corners he managed to make up two places
but was unable to hold off the smaller, lighter riders finishing the race in 10 th
place but gaining further valuable points and 5 th place in the Championship
Standard Class.

After the race Cameron said he was frustrated not to have had better results
despite riding hard, but Snetterton is a tough circuit for him at the moment with
the long straights. After not competing at Knockhill at least it’s good to come
away from this round with some points and I’m looking forward to Brands in
three weeks. Again thank you to my Dad for his work on the bike, my family
and everyone who supports me
